This diet is based on meal replacements. You will drink shakes, eat soup and enjoy snacks like snack bars, pudding and much more. The premise of this diet is to balance out the carbs and proteins that you eat, making sure your body gets enough of the minerals and vitamins it needs.
The program requires that you eat or drink 5 of the Medifast supplements per day. Plus you will enjoy 1 meal a day that is a lean protein, salad green and a vegetable.

One of the reasons people are drawn to the Medifast program is because they don’t have to worry about coming up with foods on their own. The program sends you all the foods you need. This is especially attractive to those who live a busy life (and now-a-days who doesn’t?).
Another benefit of the diet program is you eat several meals throughout the day. Oftentimes you will end up eating six small meals throughout the day. Yet another plus to the program is that you don’t have to get bored eating the same things over and over. They offer you approximately 60 different meals to choose from.
Some more benefits of the program are that it produces quick results. And let’s face it when it comes to weight loss, people are always looking for quick results. How fast you will lose weight varies from person to person. And while it’s nice to lose quickly, keep in mind doctors recommend not losing more than 1-3 lbs a week.
You may be wondering if the program is right for you. Obviously no one can make that decision but you. There are a lot of pros making the program worth it but as with everything there are always cons to go along with the pros. Let’s look at a few of the cons now.

As you read above, you will be required to use Medifast supplements 5 times a day. That is going to be expensive. The average cost is about $10 a day but if you order a package deal you will get a discount.
And one last con worth mentioning – the first week is hard on your body. You will have to adapt to a new way of eating as well as get used to the flavors of the supplements Medifast gives you to replace meals with.
